Scholarships offered through the DAS Office
Rice Scholarship Fund
Leonard and Marion Rice have established a scholarship fund with Oregon State University's Foundation. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students who utilize a wheelchair in obtaining an education from Oregon State University. The scholarship is for tuition and standard student fees and is awarded for one academic year. It does not include summer term. In addition, students must submit a summary of their year's experience to the OSU Foundation to be included in the annual report to the donors.
Criteria for selection:
- The student must utilize a wheelchair on a continual basis.
- The student must be pursuing their first undergraduate degree.
- While using a grant from this Fund, the student shall maintain at least a 2.50 GPA on an annual basis.
- Because of the difficulties encountered in attending classes when using a wheelchair, there will be no definition of a full-time student. Consequently, students who are not carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours may also apply.
- Preference will be given to Oregon residents. Qualifying out-of-state students who utilize a wheelchair will be awarded only the standard resident tuition and fees.
- Students who withdraw from the university prior to completing a full academic year, for reasons other than poor academic performance, will be required to reapply for the scholarship.
Please Note: The deadline for applying to the Rice Scholarship Fund is May 1st of each year.

- The students must be enrolled in a program that will lead to a degree or license in their chosen field. Due to potential difficulties encountered in the acquisition of alternative formats, the scholarship may be awarded to a part-time student.

- Students who withdraw from the university prior to completing a full academic year, for reasons other than not maintaining the required Grade Point Average, will be allowed to reapply.
