What is DAISY?

DAISY, which stands for Digital Accessible Information System, is a dynamic new format being offered by Disability Access Services. It is a format that allows a reader to hear and navigate through written material. DAISY is similar to an audio book, but has many added features which include navigating to any page, chapter, or sentence.

Organizations that provide accessible materials across the nation have begun to transition toward the new DAISY standard. Here at Disability Access Services, we are doing all we can to ensure a smooth transition for students who receive alternative formats by providing tutorials and other media. Beginning Spring Term 2010, your books will be provided solely in DAISY format. If at any time you would like help with DAISY, you are welcome to call or stop by during office hours for assistance.
