Rice Scholarship Fund
Leonard and Marion Rice have established a scholarship fund with Oregon State University's Foundation. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students who utilize a wheelchair in obtaining an education from Oregon State University. The scholarship is for tuition and standard student fees and is awarded for one academic year. It does not include summer term. In addition, students must submit a summary of their year's experience to the OSU Foundation to be included in the annual report to the donors.
Criteria for selection:
- The student must utilize a wheelchair on a continual basis.
- The student must be pursuing their first undergraduate degree.
- While using a grant from this Fund, the student shall maintain at least a 2.50 GPA on an annual basis.
- Because of the difficulties encountered in attending classes in a wheelchair, there will be no definition of a full-time student. Consequently, students who are not carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours may also apply.
- Preference will be given to Oregon residents, qualifying out-of-state students who utilize a wheelchair will be allowed no more than a standard resident tuition and fees award.
- Students forced to drop out short of a full academic year, for reasons other than poor academic performance will be required to reapply for the scholarship.
